npghome Network Alias

[npghome] is where the home directories, and usually also the mail and kvm directories are served from. It is a dual name of one of the servers, usually [gourd], but can also be [endeavour] or [taro], or any machine that hosts the actual drives.

Setup: Home folders are served over an aliased network interface associated with the npghome hostname. The network scripts that manage these interfaces are called ifcfg-npghomefarm and ifcfg-npghomeunh.

  • IP address npghome Farm: 10.0.0.240 (eth0:1)
  • IP address npghome UNH: 132.177.91.210 (eth1:1)
