The ACS712 is only available in tiny SOIC packages. Some companies (e.g. [http://www.sparkfun.com "Sparkfun"] ) will sell the chip pre-mounted on an adaptor board. The adaptor boards are also available separately. We used some boards from Proto-advantage ([http://www.proto-advantage.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=2200001 SOIC to DIP adaptor],since at the time the board that looks better ([http://www.proto-advantage.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=400008 Alternate]) was not available.

The ACS712 is only available in tiny SOIC packages. Some companies (e.g. "Sparkfun" ) will sell the chip pre-mounted on an adaptor board. The adaptor boards are also available separately. We used some boards from Proto-advantage (SOIC to DIP adaptor,since at the time the board that looks better (Alternate) was not available.
